Saidia Beach, known as the Blue Pearl of the Mediterranean, was honored with the prestigious Blue Flag Label during a ceremony held on Saturday, July 8th, in the presence of numerous dignitaries, including Mr. Mohamed Ali Habouha, Governor of the Berkane Province, Mr. Mohammed Jelloul, President of the Provincial Council, the local Pasha, and Madam the President of the Saidia Municipality, along with various actors and partners.
The Blue Flag is an international label awarded by the Federation for Environmental Education, under the auspices of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa. This recognition follows a competition where 47 beaches applied, as part of an accompanying program initiated and organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation in partnership with the General Directorate of Territorial Communities.
The award of this Label is subject to a set of criteria, in particular: The quality of bathing water, hygiene and safety, the development and management of infrastructure, etc. The Blue Flag is often sought after and desired by coastal communities. to whom the management and maintenance of the beaches falls, note that Saidia beach has already been awarded for previous years, thanks to the beauty and safety of its beaches.
