Aware of the magnitude of royal directives and national strategies translated into the new development model, the Province of Berkane embarked on the digital sphere and the shift towards intangibility several years ago. In collaboration with a range of partners including SDL Majal Berkane for Innovation and Territorial Intelligence, UMP, EMSI, and the Association for Digital Development (ADN), the Province of Berkane organized an International Symposium on Smart Cities on March 15th and 16th within the conference hall of the Province of Berkane. The aim was to educate, raise awareness, and most importantly, converge collective consciousness towards adopting the concept and effectively implementing it.
The "Berkane International Symposium Smart City" event served as a platform to showcase the significant progress the Province of Berkane has made over the years through the establishment of evolving strategies and action plans in response to pressing demands and increasing citizen needs. These include the digitization of administrative processes, intelligent waste management, urban transportation, and slaughterhouses.
This operational vision has led to democratizing access to digital services, streamlining operations, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens. Nevertheless, SDL Majal Berkane, the company developing innovative solutions for the territory and supporting local authorities in their digital transition, remains eager to make further progress and is driven by the ambition to explore new technological solutions and venture into new horizons related to Smart Cities.
To achieve this, a considerable panel of stakeholders, including experts, researchers, and policymakers, gathered to popularize the concept, share new trends, and showcase experiences of digital transition in their respective Smart Cities such as Al Madinah Al Munawarah, Nairobi, Chefchaouen, and Ben Guérir, through a series of conferences and showcases.
In addition to the event, agreements were signed to sustain the efforts made by various stakeholders and embark on new projects. This initiative is spearheading a notable movement in the economic, ecological, and social domains, benefiting both the present and future generations.
